Blackpool Now And Then
Hi all! At the weekend we took a trip to Blackpool and had a mooch around as you do. I thought I would upload the Picture from my phone of Blackpool tower. the place is all lit up this time of year. Had a look around on the net for some places of interest and found some old pictures of the Pool.
Blackpool Tower is a tourist attraction in Blackpool, Lancashire in England which was opened to the public on 14 May 1894 Inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris it rises to 158m (518ft 9 inches). The Tower is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers. The tower can be seen from Barrow-in-Furness across Morecambe Bay 21 miles (35 km) away. It is a Grade One listed building. A few more typical seaside funny here just for good measure.

The oldest part of the building is the aquarium which was was part of Dr Cockers' Menagarie and Aquarium in the 1870s. It was kept open to earn revenue while the tower building went up around it. The aquarium was modelled on the limestone caverns in Derbyshire. It houses 57 different species of fresh water and salt water fish and the largest tank holds 32,000 litres of salt water. There is a web cam at the top of the tower and I have put a link to it Here.
In 1998 a "Walk of faith" glass floor panel was opened at the top of the tower. Made up of two sheets of laminated glass it weights half a tonne, and is two inches thick.
this is a view of the road from the walk of faith at the top of the tower. Hope you liked this snippet of info.
Makes a change to produce something with no links to anything to join cheers for coming by again catch you all again soon..
